Lineman – City of Sparta Electric Department

The City of Sparta, Tennessee is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Lineman with the Sparta Electric System.  Sparta is located 90 miles east of Nashville, TN, 95 miles west of Knoxville, TN and 80 miles north of Chattanooga, TN. The service territory includes a 6.3 square mile service area with approximately 3,000 meters.

Responsibilities: Operates line truck; sets, straightens, and stubs poles; installs cross arms, pins, insulators, conductors, transformers, outdoor lighting, and related hardware and equipment. Installs new service lines; disconnects service, installs temporary service lines, repairs service lines; installs meters. Installs and maintains underground distribution facilities and equipment. Inspects transformers, poles, and lines; repairs lines; troubleshoots power outages; identifies problems, and plans repairs. Paints transformers and steel electrical towers. Prepares field reports and material lists. Cleans vehicles, equipment, warehouse, and work area.

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and preferably a completion of five year Lineman apprenticeship or Journeyman program such as SELCAT or TVPPA.

General Manager – Harriman, TN

The Harriman Utility Board, located in Harriman, TN, a municipal provider of Electric, Natural Gas, Water, and Wastewater Services is seeking candidates for the position of General Manager to replace the current GM, who is retiring in May 2018. HUB has approximately 80 employees that serve 11,000 Electric customers, 3,150 Gas customers, 4,800 Water customers, and 2,250 Wastewater customers in a 240 square mile area within Roane and Morgan Counties. The utility has a five (5) member governing Board appointed by the City of Harriman. The GM is responsible for implementing the policies of the Board, hiring, training, and retaining employees, overseeing the daily operations, and insuring compliance with applicable Local, State, and Federal Regulations.

Candidates must have a BS (or higher) degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business (Accounting, Finance, etc.) or related field and 5+ years’ experience in a senior management position in a multi‐service utility. The successful candidate should have the TVPPA Certified Power Executive Certificate, or be willing to obtain it within 2 years of employment. They also should be effective in establishing relationships with the Board, employees, customers, and local leaders. Engineer – Weakley County

ENGINEER – Weakley County Municipal Electric System is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Engineer. This position requires, as a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university, and 5 years’ experience in power system engineering. Valid Tennessee Driver’s License is required. Tennessee PE certification is strongly preferred but not required. Applicants should be experienced in all aspects of utility engineering, including staking, system coordination, mapping, substation maintenance, SCADA, fiber optics, and AMI. The position of General Manager will entail exceptional management and leadership of a small municipally owned multi‐service public utility system, including water, wastewater, and electricity services.

Applicants should have a minimum of a four‐year degree in engineering, business, or a related field from an accredited university and 5 years of experience in progressively responsible positions, Senior Management level experience a plus.

Broadband Department Manager – Newport Utilities

Newport Utilities is actively seeking a motivated and dynamic Broadband Department Manager. This position will oversee start-up operations for CATV, Internet and telephone on FTTx infrastructure and includes keeping current on product knowledge; responding to customer inquiries and the establishment of day-to-day tactical planning for outside plant and back office operations; controlling and planning daily work activities of outside plant technicians; maintaining a safe and orderly workflow for technician’s daily assignments; and coordinating subscriber work orders and service calls.
